ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth 12
th-ranked women's hockey squad came from two goals down to tie the game, only to give up a third period goal to fall 3-2 to Morrisville on Saturday.
Abby Flanagan scored both goals for the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth is now 1-1, while Morrisville is 3-0.
The visitors scored a power play goal with less four minutes remaining in the opening period.
Six minutes into the second, the Mustangs were able to break through again to push their lead to 2-0.
Nazareth's pressure eventually paid off with just over four minutes to play in the second, as
Nikki Sharp flicked a pass to Flanagan for her first goal of the season.
Ivey Lyden played the entry pass to pick up an assist.
It was 2-1 heading into the second intermission.
Flanagan netted her second of the day four minutes into the third with an assist to
Alexis Kindred.
The Mustangs however scored the game-winning goal with under eight minutes remaining.
Nazareth pulled goaltender
McKinley Hoff with around one minute to play but Nazareth could not find the game-tying goal. Hoff made 14 saves in net.
Nazareth travels to Manhattanville on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest.
