Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Bested by Princeton On Thanksgiving Eve

PRINCETON, N.J. - On Wednesday evening, men's basketball traveled to Ivy League Princeton for a non-conference match-up against ferocious competition. Three players for the Golden Flyers were in double-digits as Nazareth fell to Princeton 99-63.

Princeton was hot off the buzzer, leading 15-3 in under four minutes of play, all 15 points coming from well behind the arc. By the 10 minute mark, Princeton was leading 25-10, and Nazareth struggled to convert on offense.

Princeton's first half shooting percentage of 46.34 (40 from the three) proved to be hard to shut down, and Nazareth went into the second half trailing 50-28.

In the first half, Tyler Putney led the scoring with 11 including three buckets from behind the arc. Merritt Holly added eight, while Jaylen Savage had four and Solomon McFarlane racked up a three. Liam Hopwood also tallied a bucket.

The second half was a much better offensive half for the Golden Flyers, upping their shooting percentage in the field from 27.78 to 39.39 as a team. However, Princeton's sharp shooting continued in the final 20 minutes of the game, and Nazareth could not stop the deficit from growing.

The game finalized at a score of 99-63 in favor of the Princeton Tigers.

Holly led Nazareth's offensive efforts with a season-high 14 points, while also adding four rebounds and one assist. Putney was close behind with 11 and he also tallied four rebounds, while Savage had 10 points and four rebounds.

Gabe Lucarelli led the Golden Flyers' efforts on the boards with seven rebounds, while teammate Liam Hopwood added six.

Luke Insley led Nazareth in assists with four.

The Golden Flyers will be back on the court on December 7th at home at 7 p.m. against Alfred University.
