Nazareth College Athletics

Son of Jeremy Hopwood and Mary Esther Malloy, Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y... returning for his fifth season, Hopwood suffered an injury prior to the start of the year as a senior but was able to come back and play nine games a the end of the season... scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had three steals... won the Emily Haskins Inspirational Award at the Nazareth Athletics End of the Year Awards Banquet - the award is presented for athletic achievement as well as inspiration to others. The award is named after former Nazareth soccer player Emily Haskins, who died unexpectedly.

2022-23: as a junior, he appeared in all 27 games and made a pair of starts … he averaged 1.0 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per contest … scored a season-best six points against Houghton (2/3) and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds against Medaille the following day … he was tied for second on the team with 11 blocked shots.

2021-22: Hopwood came off the bench in 28 games and averaged 1.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game ... in the second game of the season, he had a career-best eight points and a career-best and team-leading 10 rebounds in the victory over Cazenovia.

2020-21: Hopwood played in nine games for the Golden Flyers during the pandemic-shortened 2021 season.

Scholastic: a graduate of Hastings High School, Hopwood excelled in basketball and baseball there... played three seasons of varsity basketball and served as team captain in 2019-20... scored game-winning basket in closing seconds as Hastings claimed a two-point win and its first Section One title in 21 years... named honorable mention all-state and first-team all-league as team finished 23-2... played first base for the baseball team.
