Box Score KEUKA, N.Y. – The women's volleyball team swept Keuka 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-22) in another conference match this afternoon. Nazareth is now leading the conference with a perfect record (6-0, 11-8 overall).
Â
In the first set, Nazareth commanded from the get-go, starting with a 6-0 run, two of which were service aces from
Leah Fusilli. The Wolves could not recover from this early deficit, as the Golden Flyers did not allow Keuka to score more than three points in a row for the entire set. The set ended on a
Ruth Jackson kill from
Tessa Grover, at a score of 25-13.
Â
The second set opened a little different, with the two teams battling for the lead at the beginning. At a score of 8-7 in favor of Keuka, Nazareth went on a five-point run, to which Keuka had no answer for. The second set ended in the same manner as the first (Jackson from Grover) at a score of 25-14.
Â
The final set was much more competitive. Once again it started with a back and forth battle, but a five-point run from the Golden Flyers when the game was tied at 10-10 allowed for a small amount of comfort for Nazareth. However, Keuka went on a seven-point run when they were down 19-13, to regain the lead at 20-19. Nazareth was able to regain control of the game, scoring in increments of two, broken up by single points from Keuka for the remainder of the game. The set ended on kills by
Alana Lucey and Grover, both from
Ella Kules.
Â
Grover led the team in kills with 11, followed by Jackson and Fusilli who each had six. Kules had the most assists of the game at 18, followed by Grover and
Jenna Mattison, who had 11 and three respectfully. Fusilli led the team with 16 digs, followed by Mattison with eight, and
Zoe Tylipakis with seven.
Â
The Golden Flyers will take the floor again on October 23
rd at 6 p.m. for a conference match against St. John Fisher.
