ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women's volleyball team won its seventh-straight game on Friday night, downing Elmira 25-22, 25-18, 25-15 on Senior Night. The seven games in a row is the longest win streak since 2018 when the Golden Flyers started the season 7-0.
The Golden Flyers honored all four seniors prior to the game in
Tessa Grover,
Ruth Jackson,
Ella Kules, and
Zoe Tylipakis.
With the win, Nazareth moves to 10-8 overall and 5-0 in E8 play, while Elmira drops to 2-18 and 0-6, respectively.
Nazareth raced out to an 18-11 lead in the first set following one of Grover's three kills in the set. Elmira was able to claw into the lead and pull within 23-22 before
Alana Lucey put down a kill. Lucey combined with Grover on a block to end the set, 25-22.
In the second set, Nazareth led 14-12, before rattling off five-straight points to seize control. Nazareth hit .286 for the set with 12 kills on 28 attempts with four errors.
Nazareth jumped to a 10-4 lead in the third and never looked back.
Jackson led the way with seven kills to go along with four blocks. Grover led the team with 14 assists, with 12 digs, and six kills. Kules was good for 12 assists. Tylipakis,
Leah Fusilli, and Lucey each had five kills. Lucey also had four blocks.
Nazareth travels to Keuka on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
