Final Results
BROCKPORT, NY – Seniors Ryan Hough and Kai D'Alessandro had come-from-behind finishes in a pair of thrilling races for the Nazareth University Men's Swimming and Diving team in the final dual meet of the year at Brockport.
Brockport edged Nazareth in the team score with a 113-108 victory.
Nazareth opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay as senior Cameron Fairley and sophomore Sam Romanosky teamed with juniors Adam DelGrand and William Danaher to post a winning time of 1:45.29.
Freshman Gianluca Antonini followed with a first-place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:55.72.
Hough delivered his first win of the night in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.63 and was second in the 100 freestyle behind teammate freshman Jackson Gerbes. Hough swam a 56.33 and Gerbes was first with a time of 56.32.
In the 500 freestyle, D'Alessando had the first of the two thrilling finishes as he took the lead on the final lap of the race and took a first-place time of 5:09.12. Antonini was third in the race with his time of 5:09.50 as the top three finishers touched the wall within a half second.
In the final event of the night, DelGrand, D'Alessandro and sophomore Jack Bordeau swam the first three legs of the 200 freestyle relay and trailed by nearly two seconds before Hough overcame the deficit and raced to a first-place finish of 1:31.22 just .25 ahead of the second-place finishers.
Nazareth wraps up the regular season and will compete in the Allegheny Empire Championships beginning February 14.
