ROCHESTER, NY– Senior
Ryan Hough broke the pool and meters record with two first place finishes in the 50-meter (23.33) and 100-meter (51.53) freestyle against Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon on Senior Day.
The previous school record in the 50-meter free was 23.42 and 52.14 in the 100-meter, both by Seth Farrand in 2018.
The Golden Flyers (0-5) fell short in the falling 186-102.
Hough and fellow teammates
Aidan Quinn,
Sam Romanosky, and
Jackson Gerbes secured third place in the 200-meter medley relay (1:56.85). Teammates
Andy Zimmerman,
Jack Bordeau,
Alexander Baxter, and
Solomon Panayil (2:14.51) followed in fifth place to open up the meet. Senior Quinn was runner-up in both the 200-meter backstroke (2:31.82) and 100-meter backstroke (1:09.77).
Senior
Cameron Fairley placed first in the 800-meter freestyle (9:25.98), while the runner-up was
Kai D'Alessandro (9:37.72) and fourth place was
Gianluca Antonini (9:41.48). D'Alessandro later placed second in the 400-meter freestyle (4:35.90) with Antonini (4:43.93) and Fairley (4:51.53) following in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
DelGrand had a great finish in the 100-meter butterfly (1:02.79) placing him in first. He also placed second in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:08.63.
William Danaher followed in third place (1:04.46) in the 100-meter butterfly, along with a second place finish in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:30.23.
Freshman
Carl Parsons placed third in the 200-meter IM (2:28.86) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:12.40), along with fourth in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:46.44) in today's contest.
Fairley and D'Alessandro, along with Hough and DelGrand placed first in the 800-meter freestyle relay later on in the meet (8:10.02) nearing the pool record (8:07.84). Quinn, Antonini, Will Danaher and
Jackson Gerbes placed fourth in the same event (8:59.71) to close out the meet.
The Golden Flyers look to bounce back on January 31 at Brockport at 5 pm.
