ELMIRA, NY – The 10
th-ranked men's volleyball won a pair of three set matches on Saturday against Thiel and Drew. It was the third and fourth matches this season that the Golden Flyers have won in three sets.
The Golden Flyers are now 7-0.
Nazareth defeats Thiel, 28-26, 25-21, 25-13
Nazareth led 19-15 in the first set but surrendered five-straight points to fall behind. Later in the set Thiel served for the set twice, but the Golden Flyers were able to stave off the attempts. Trailing 26-26, Nazareth put together three-straight points to win the set.
The second and third sets proved to be much smoother for the Golden Flyers.
Owen Wickens was the lone Golden Flyer for double digit kills with 16. He also had six service aces and five digs.
Josh Weaver dished out 27 assists.
Jake O'Sullivan notched six kills on 14 attempts and had five blocks.
Nathan DeJoy also had five blocks in the match, with five kills.
The Golden Flyers hit .207 for the match with 35 kills on 82 attempts with 18 errors.
Nazareth defeats Drew, 25-13, 25-19, 25-15
The Golden Flyers hit .397 for the match.
Wickens (.571) and
Alex Bertino (.429) each had nine kills on 14 attempts.
Andrew Bodensteiner had four kills. For the second consecutive game, Weaver had 27 assists.
Nazareth returns to action Friday, hosting Potsdam at 3 p.m.
