ROCHESTER, NY – Solid play at the net all day for the Nazareth University Women's Volleyball team helped the Golden Flyers to a 3-0 sweep over Alfred to remain undefeated in early conference play.
Nazareth (5-9 overall, 2-0 E8) won its fourth consecutive match and completed the weekend sweep of Empire 8 matches after downing Elmira 3-0 Friday night.
The Golden Flyers posted set scores of 25-11, 25-22 and 25-18 for the sweep over Alfred (3-9, 0-2 E8).
Junior Tessa Grover led Nazareth with 12 kills, a .458 attack percentage and 10 assists. She combined with sophomore Zipporah Sparkman for several key stops at the net as the Nazareth defense controlled the action for a majority of the match.
Sophomore Jenna Mattison led the defense with 17 digs. Junior Ella Kules handed out 17 assists and sophomore Leah Fusilli finished with seven kills and five digs.
Nazareth will host St. John Fisher Wednesday night in a matchup of two of the top teams in the Empire 8 standings.
