CHILI, NY – Graduate student Emily Weaver continued to shine for the Nazareth University Women's Cross Country team as she raced to an 8th place finish to lead the Golden Flyers to a third place team finish Saturday at the Harry Anderson Memorial meet.
Weaver shaved nearly a minute off her previous best 5K finish as she completed the course in 18:53.0. Her previous best was a 19:40.5 at Houghton in 2021 Empire 8 Championships during the abbreviated Spring Covid-19 season.
Senior Lilianna Hanning took more than a minute off her 5K PR with a time of 18:57.2. Her previous top time was a 20:10.6 in the same Empire 8 Championship race.
Weaver scored 8 and Hanning 10 for the Golden Flyers who finish third overall with 83 points.
SUNY Geneseo won the team title with 51 points and Roberts Wesleyan (66 points) was second. Nazareth finished ahead of Cortland (99), D'Youville (113), SUNY ESF (139), St. Clar CC (220), Alfred State (250), Morrisville (282), Alfred (293), Trent University (304), Hilbert (312) and Keuka (347). There were 147 runners in the field.
Sophomore Ella Impaglia was third for Nazareth in 16th place with a time of 19:18.2 while freshmen Meghan Moyer (24th/19:37.3) and Morgan Pospiech (25th/19:42.1) rounded out the scoring for Nazareth.
Nazareth will compete next on October 7 at the Dickinson Pre-Nationals meet in Pennsylvania.
