HOUGHTON, NY – Graduate student Emily Weaver started the season with a solid finish as she crossed the line in second place to pace the Nazareth University Women's Cross Country team to a second place team finish at the season opening Houghton Invitational Friday afternoon.
Weaver had a time of 10:47.53 which was just six seconds off the winning pace. Senior Lilianna Hanning was 8th with a time of 11:05.34 and freshman Meghan Moyer was 13th in 11:26.63 to place third for Nazareth in her first career race.
Fellow freshman, Morgan Pospiech was the fourth Nazareth finisher with her 21st place finish overall in 11:33.19 and another freshman – Bailey Visingard rounded out the Golden Flyers scoring with her 25th place finish in 11:39.09 as Nazareth finished with a scoring group of less than 53 seconds.
Additional top-50 finishers for Nazareth included a trio of freshmen with Kelsey Fahy (35th – 11:48.78), Ava Baker (36th – 11:48.78) and Emma Wendt (50th – 12:12.02).
Rochester took the team title with 34 points and Nazareth was second with 67. Cortland (75) was third followed by Brockport (79), D'Youville (87), Houghton (147), William Smith (162), Alfred (170) and Keuka (214).
