Men’s Volleyball Comes Back for First Conference Win

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Sophomore Max Stuver had 16 kills and a .583 attack percentage while junior Owen Wickens recorded 18 kills to eclipse the 300 season kills milestone as well as the 700 career kills mark as the Nazareth Men's Volleyball team posted a 3-1 win over MIT Friday night for its first United Volleyball Conference (UVC) win of the season.

No. 12 Nazareth (15-5 overall, 1-4 UVC) dropped the first set 25-20 but rebounded to win the next three sets 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23 for the four-set victory.

MIT (9-8, 0-3 UVC) won the first set with a strong .571 attack percentage but Nazareth used a balanced attack to rebound and outscore the Engineers over the next three matches. The win over MIT was the third in the last four meetings and the eighth Nazareth victory in the last 10 matchups.

Wickens led the way with his 18 kills and added seven digs and three aces while Stuver had 16 kills and three blocks.

Senior Trent Caviness handed out 37 assists and recorded two aces and eight digs while fellow senior Seth Terzo led the defense with 11 digs.

Nazareth will play a non-conference match Saturday at Elms College before returning home to fly to California for four matches at Cal Lutheran.
