Biography

Psychology minor … son of Cal and Tammy Wickens, Rochester, N.Y... returning for his fifth season for the Golden Flyers after earn AVCA All-American First Team honors for the second consecutive Year... repeated as the Empire 8 Player of the Year, was named First Team All-UVC and was an AVCA North Region All-Region selection... led the nation in aces per set and .0964 after tallying 81 on the season which was also a school record... 4x Empire 8 Player of the Week and 2x UVC Player of the Week... led Nazareth in kill with 316 (3.72 per set - fourth all-time at Nazareth) and service aces with 81... named to the UVC All-Tournament team... surpassed 1,000 kills during the season and became the only player in school history to to record at least 1000 kills, 200 aces, 500 digs and 600 assists... won the Jeff Van Gundy Award for his work ethic and passion for his school and the athletics year-end banquet... named to the UVC All-Academic Team... finished the year with 131 digs (1.54 per set), 35 blocks on 7 block solo and 28 block assists... had a season-high 29 kills against Baldwin Wallace on 2/17/24... registered a career-high nine service aces on two separate occasions, once against Roanoke on 1/13/24 and the other against Houghton on 1/20/24... had double-doubles against Baldwin Wallace and Messiah on 2/27/24... represented the Golden Flyers on the Empire 8 Conference Presidents' List for student-athletes with GPAs of 3.75 and above in the spring semester.    

2023: earned AVCA All-American honors in his junior year … was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year and was an Empire 8 and United Volleyball Conference First Team All-Star selection as well as AVCA North Region All-Region selection … he was a six-time Empire 8 Player of the Week, four-time UVC Player of the Week and won the AVCA National Player of the Week award for the week ending January 24 … named the tournament MVP at the SUNY Poly Tournament and the Misericordia Tournament … led Nazareth in nearly all statistical categories with 417 kills which is third all-time at Nazareth... his 4.30 kills/set is second all-time in school history, .273 attack percentage, 128 assists, 57 aces, 189 digs and 39 blocks … ranks second in school history with 154 career aces … named to the UVC All-Academic team and the College Sports Communications (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District team.

2022: Wickens delivered another standout season as a sophomore, repeating as a First Team UVC All-Star in 2022... led the conference in service aces with 81 and was second in points per set at 4.15... led Nazareth in attack percentage at .269 and kills with 280 (3.01 per set), was second in assists with 343 (3.69 per set) and blocks with 40 (.43 per set)... also led the Golden Flyers with 164 digs (1.76 per set)... posted career-high 21 kills against Daemen on 2/23/22... career-high 35 assists against Juniata on 1/15/22... collected seven service aces against Juniata on 1/15/22 and Sarah Lawrence on 2/19/22... career-best 15 digs against St. John Fisher on 3/30/22... named to the 2022 Division III North Region all-star team... recognized on the UVC All-Academic team (3.3 GPA or higher).

2021: Wickens was among the best players in the United Volleyball Conference in 2021 as he appeared in all 12 matches and 47 sets for the Golden Flyers... led the team with 138 kills (2.94 per set) and was tied for the team lead with 16 service aces... also second in assists (82), digs (79) and blocks (30)... named as a first-team UVC all-star as well as league Rookie of the Year... also named as a North Region all-star by the American Volleyball Coaches Association and to the UVC all-tournament team... named UVC Rookie of the Week three times (38, 3/15 and 3/22)... had a career-high 20 kills with four aces and nine digs to lead the Golden Flyer to a four-set upset of nationally ranked St. John Fisher on 3/10/21... posted double-digit kill totals in seven other matches... had 25 assists at Elmira on 3/23/21 and had three double-doubles (kills-digs).

Scholastic: a graduate of McQuaid Jesuit, Wickens was a volleyball standout there... led the Knights to state title in 2019 and was named New York State Player of the Year as well as All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year... a three-time All-Greater Rochester selection by the Democrat and Chronicle... competed for Pace Bootlegger club team.
