Lincoln Crosby fired one of the low rounds of the day on Monday, a +6 (77), to help Nazareth to a fourth place finish after the fall portion of the Empire 8 Championships at Cazenovia Country Club. The fourth place standing for Nazareth is the highest the Golden Flyers have been after the fall portion of the Empire 8 Championships since it was in the same position back in 2018-19. The team scores are as follows:
St. John Fisher University – 615 (309-306)
SUNY Oswego – 639 (324-315)
Utica University – 646 (327-319)
Nazareth University – 648 (322-326)
Russell Sage College – 657 (323-334)
Elmira College – 666 (330-336)
Keuka College – 691 (341-350)
After an opening round 81, Crosby came back to card a 77 and finish at +16 which has him in a tie for fifth place. Crosby closed out his round with a birdie on the par-5 18
th but the highlight of his round came on the par-5 7
th when he was able to deliver an eagle.
Thomas McIntosh, who was the top scorer for Nazareth after day 1 (8
th place), had another strong start to his round by going out in a 38. He went onto shot a 41 on the back nine to finish with a +8 for the day. He is +17 for the tournament and in a tie for 10
th place.
Vincent Falgiatano was two strokes behind McIntosh at +19. After shooting a 78 in the opening round, he launched an 83, finishing the day with consecutive double bogeys. The sophomore is tied for 14
th place.
The final scorer for the Golden Flyers was
Alex Bolis who carded an 87 (+16). Combined with his 84 from day one, he is at +29 for the championship. Bolis is tied with teammate
Colin Rider who had an 88 on Monday. The +29 puts them in a tie for 28
th place.
Kyle Kuzniar is in 35
th place at +34.
The 2023-24 league champion is determined from results of the Fall Championship, followed up by the 36-hole Spring Championship, which will take place on April 13-14, 2024 at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, PA. The 2023-24 Empire 8 Champion receives an automatic berth into the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship, set for May 14-17 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, NV.
