ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Tessa Grover recorded a pair of career highs for kills with 21 in the first match and 22 in the second match as the Nazareth University Women's Volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday at RIT.
The Golden Flyers downed St. Lawrence 3-1 by set scores of 25-21, 25-13, 25-27 and 25-17 but dropped a 3-1 decision to RIT by set scores of 15-25, 27-25, 22-25 and 21-25.
In the St. Lawrence victory, Grover not only had a career best 21 kills, also recorded another triple double as she added 15 assists and 11 digs. The 21 kills came with an attack percentage of .531 and she also had seven blocks in the match.
Junior Ella Kules had a team-leading 33 assists and four aces while sophomore Rylie Loomis had seven kills and 11 digs, sophomore Jenna Mattison added 12 digs and sophomore Leah Fusilli chipped in 11 kills and a team-leading 20 digs.
In the RIT match, Grover led Nazareth with a career-high 22 kills on a .513 attack percentage, had 22 assists, seven digs and three blocks. Mattison led the team with 17 digs while Kules recorded 25 assists, two aces and seven digs. Fusilli registered eight kills, nine digs and three aces.
Nazareth will face the University of Rochester Wednesday before returning to Empire 8 action with matches at Hartwick Friday and at Russell Sage Saturday.
