GENEVA, NY – The Nazareth women's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net on Wednesday, falling 2-0 to fourth-ranked, and undefeated, William Smith at Cozens field. Junior
Annika Monfort made 10 saves, the fourth time this season she has had 10 or more saves.
Nazareth drops to 5-4-5 overall with the loss, while William Smith remains undefeated at 9-0-3.
The Herons came out strong in the opening half, generating 16 shots and five corner kicks.
William Smith was able to get the scoring started in the 38th minute as a Charlotte Brown cross from the right flank was headed in by Julia Berg.
Monfort made six of her 10 saves in the first half.
It was the fifth time this season that the Golden Flyers were held without a goal.
Berg notched her second off the day off a corner kick in the 55
th minute.
The Herons held a 28-1 advantage in shots for the game.
The Golden Flyers return to conference play on Saturday, taking on Sage at 1 pm.
