Tessa Grover tallied 13 assists to push her over 1400 career assists, as Nazareth fell in four sets to Hartwick on Friday night, 17-25, 25-20, 8-25, 20-25.
Hartwick (9-7 overall, 4-1 conference) sustained an early lead in the first set over Nazareth (6-13 overall, 2-2 conference) for a 25-17 win.
Rylie Loomis earned her 100th kill of the season in the first set of the Empire 8 conference matchup.
Nazareth bounced back and took the second set in a back-and-forth scoring duel for a 25-20 victory. A late five-point run led Nazareth past Hartwick to tie the match at one set apiece
Hartwick won the third set 25-8.
In the fourth set, Nazareth lost another back-and-forth battle, 25-20, to close out the match. Nazareth trailed by two points late in the set, 20-18, but Hartwick capitalized scoring the final five points to beat the Golden Flyers.
Grover totaled 19 kills and 13 assists, while
Ella Kules had 19 assists to lead the Nazareth offense. Defensively, sophomores
Jenna Mattison and
Leah Fusilli had 14 and 12 digs, respectively.
Nazareth will finish a conference road trip tomorrow, October 14, against Sage at 1 p.m.
