PITTSFORD, NY – Senior Emily Weaver was the top finisher for the Nazareth College Women's Cross Country team as she led the Golden Flyers to a third place finish at the season-opening race Friday at the Terry Rodenback Invitational at St. John Fisher.
Weaver was the first non-Geneseo finisher as the Knights won the team competition with a perfect 15 score. RIT was second with 72 points and Nazareth was close behind with 82 points. St. John Fisher was fourth with 87 points and William Smith was fifth with 125.
Weaver crossed the finish line in 15:53.7 over the 4K course and junior Lilianna Hanning was next for Nazareth with a time of 16:01.4 in 11th position.
Freshman Ella Impaglia led a pack of a dozen runners across the line in 16th place with a time of 16:41.1. Sophomore teammate Peyton Tripp was 20th with a time of 16:55.1 as she outraced five runners to the line.
Senior Alexis Anagnostopulos rounded out the Nazareth team score with her time of 17:13.8 in 27th position. Junior Paige Ackley was less than a second behind in 28th place with a time of 17:14.6.
Additional finishers for Nazareth included junior Leigha Gould (17:55.3), freshman Silvia Hunt (18:37.1) and senior Elizabeth Decker (18:40.7).
Nazareth will compete next weekend at the Hamilton College Short Course Invitational.
