KEUKA PARK, NY – Quinn McKercher scored five times, Brett Randall added four goals and sophomore Sal Ingrassia scored three including his first career goal as the Nazareth College Men's Lacrosse team ran away with a 28-3 win over Keuka College Wednesday.
Nazareth (6-7 overall, 3-1 Empire 8) scored the first 21 goals of the game and came close to the school record of 30 goals in a game with a season-high 28 goals. The 28 goals was the most in a game since the Golden Flyers scored 29 against Houghton in 2015 and it is the fourth time this season Nazareth has eclipsed the 20-goal mark.
McKercher scored four of the first seven goals and five of the first nine as Nazareth ran out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and extended the lead to 9-0 just 1:16 into the second period.
Randall added three goals in the first quarter run as the Golden Flyers controlled play winning eight of the first nine face-offs.
Graduate student Dakota Allis scored his first goal of the season to give Nazareth a 12-0 lead and freshman Michael Bergan added his first career goal early in the third quarter to make the score 17-0.
Just 30 seconds later Ingrassia netted his first goal and junior Gavin Girardin scored his first of the season to extend the lead.
Jon Parrinello scored and Bergan scored his second before Keuka (2-8, 0-5 Empire 8) finally scored to make the score 21-1.
Near the end of the third quarter, sophomore Owen White notched his first goal of the season for a 26-1 lead and the teams traded goals in the next 15:05 for the final score.
Nazareth used four goalies that combined for nine saves.
McKercher finished with five goals and three assists, Randall added four goals and an assist while Ingarissia chipped in three goals and three assists and Bergan had two goals and two assists to lead Nazareth.
The Golden Flyers continue Empire 8 play Sunday in Albany with a 1 p.m. Empire 8 game at Russell Sage.
