GENESEO, N.Y. -- Host Geneseo rallied form an early deficit Saturday to race past Nazareth in a non-conference women's lacrosse match, 20-9.
Emma States scored four goals and
Emma Robinson had three for the Golden Flyers, who dropped to 2-5 overall, while Geneseo improved to 4-1.
Two first-period goals by Robinson and one by
Maggie Vay staked the Golden Flyers to a 3-1 lead through the first 10 minutes of action. Geneseo, however, rallied to score eight straight goals -- bridging the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second -- to erase Nazareth's advantage while building an insurmountable lead of its own.
Two goals by States interrupted the scoring spree, but the Knights scored the last goal of the first half for a 10-5 lead at the break.Â
Geneseo continued to dominate in the third quarter with eight more goals as Nazareth was unable to recover.
Hannah Kirisits contributed a goal for Nazareth in the third quarter and States and
Eleanor Matz each had two assists.
Geneseo had a 33-20 advantage in shots and Nazareth goalie
Katie Lawrence had six saves before
Emma Prosak took over in the third quarter and recorded five saves.
Saturday's game was the first of four straight on the road for the Golden Flyers, who visit Rochester Friday at 4 p.m.
