PITTSBURGH --
Owen Wickens had three of his match-best 17 kills and two service aces in the fifth and decisive set Sunday as 12th-ranked Nazareth held off Mt. Union in a five-set men's volleyball match. Nazareth prevailed by scores of 25-19, 27-25, 21-25, 21-25, 15-10.
The victory enabled Nazareth to complete a sweep of three weekend matches at the Steel City Freeze Tournament at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Nazareth also defeated Wittenberg and Thiel on Saturday. The Golden Flyers have won sevfen straight matches to improve to 12-1 overall.
Nazareth won the first two sets to take a seemingly safe lead, but Mt. Union rallied to take sets three and four to force the fifth set. Nazareth fell behind 2-1, before rattling off six straight points to regain control with a 7-2 lead. Wickens had a kill and a pair of aces during the scoring run and
Colin Donahue and
Josh Weaver combined for a block to provide another point. Donahue added two kills in the set and had five kills overall with four blocks in the match.
Wickens' 17 kills came against eight hitting errors in 45 attempts. He also had eight assists, eight aces and 13 digs.

Trent Caviness split up the setting duties and combined for 42 assists. Weaver added 11 kills and
Antonio Sargent had eight.
Seth Terzo had a season-high 16 digs.
Nazareth plays four home matches next weekend. They host SUNY Poly and Rutgers-Newark Saturday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. respectively. On Sunday, Nazareth plays Baldwin Wallace at 11 a.m. and Thiel at 3.
