ROCHESTER, N.Y. --
Jadyn Abrams led all scorers with 21 points Saturday as Nazareth defeated visiting Russell Sage in women's basketball, 65-40, on Mike Daley Court at the Kidera Gymnasium.
The victory was Nazareth's second of the season over Russell Sage, which dropped to 9-11 overall and 5-6 in the Empire 8. Nazareth improved to 13-6 overall and 8-2 in conference games.
Abrams connected on 7 of 9 field goal attempts and was a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range to generate her 21 points. After a slow start in which she scored just two points in the first period, Abrams heated up by hitting a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter as Nazareth outscored the Gators 18-7 to go ahead 32-24 at halftime. She added 10 more point in the third quarter with two more three-pointers as Nazareth extended its lead to 55-31. She played sparingly in the fourth quarter, hitting one more three-pointer before being taken out.
Miyah Sizer and
Kim Davis each scored eight points for the Golden Flyers, who went 26-for-61 from the field with eight three-pointers overall.
Caley Cornwell and
Makalah Sizer each scored seven points. Davis also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and had three blocks.
Sabrina Wolfe scored four points and added six assists.
The Golden Flyers are home again Sunday for a 1 p.m. Empire 8 Conference game vs. Hartwick.
