ITHACA, NY – Senior Christopher Perez and junior Nathan Bowers each hit career marks to lead the Nazareth College Men's Track and Field team at the Bomber Invitational Saturday at Ithaca College.
Perez uncorked a 15.63-meter (51' 3 ½") throw in the weight throw on his final attempt to place fourth overall in the event and eclipse his career-best effort.
Bowers had his career best in the mile run as he placed seventh with a time of 4:22.66.
Fellow junior Connor McCauslin was sixth in the 60-metere hurdles in the preliminary round with an 8.62 time that was first in the second heat in the race. Later in the day, he clocked an 8.54 time and took fourth in the finals. He was also 14th in the 60-meter dash with a 7.30 time.
A trio of runners finished together in the 400-meter race as freshman Benjamin Lewis finished eighth in 52.06 and teammate senior Matthew Johnson was close behind with a 52.07 in ninth place and junior Mike Welch was next at 52.14 in 10th place.
In the field events, freshman Kyle Reid placed fifth in the high jump as he cleared the 1.79 meter (5' 10 ½") bar for Nazareth.
The Golden Flyers will compete at the RIT Invitational Friday while a few select athletes will travel to Staten Island for the Fast Track Invitational also on Friday.
