ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Brielle Reidinger recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds and graduate student Jadyn Abrams led Nazareth with 13 points but it was not enough as the University of Rochester downed the Golden Flyers 78-55 Saturday in the second game of the annual Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout at Rochester.
The Yellowjackets (4-0) opened up an early lead with up tempo play and started with seven early points for a 7-0 lead.
Nazareth (1-4) battled back and a basket by graduate student Caley Cornwell trimmed the early lead to 9-6. A 6-2 Rochester run reestablished the lead and the Yellowjackets took a 17-10 lead after one period.
Rochester used another run early in the second quarter increased the lead to a 26-12 advantage three minutes into the quarter. U of R led 36-24 at halftime.
The Yellowjackets continued to build on their lead with a 22-12 third quarter advantage.
Reidinger, who was named to the All-Tournament team, and Abrams were the lone double figures scorers for Nazareth while junior Chelsea Woodsum added seven points.
Nazareth will be off for the Thanksgiving break and return to action Tuesday, November 29 with a home game against SUNY Morrisville.
