Women's Volleyball Defeats Clark in Five; Swept By RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The women's volleyball squad was back in action on Saturday at the RIT Invitational, splitting a pair of matches, first collecting a five set win over Clark University 25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 22-25, 15-10, followed by a three set loss to the host Tigers, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19.
 
Nazareth moves to 8-15 on the year and will next be in action on Friday, traveling to Elmira for a 5 p.m. contest.
 
3-2 over Clark
The Golden Flyers had three players with double-digit kills, spearheaded by Kaylee Kelly's 15 kills (.196) and 16 digs.  Eva Lyko (.147) and Tessa Grover each chipped in 12 kills apiece. Grover had a game-highs in assists (39) and blocks (7).
 
Nazareth finished the contest hitting .173 as a team, including a rousing second set at .565 with 16 kills on 23 attempts, with just three errors.
 
After winning the first two sets and dropping the next two, the Golden Flyers had their second-best hitting set in the fifth at .217 (8 kills, 3 errors, 23 attempts).  Four-straight points, including a kills from Zoe Tylipakis, gave Nazareth a 9-4 lead. Clark clawed to within 12-9 late in the set but an attack error followed by a kill by Lyko put the game of reach.
 
3-0 loss to RIT
In the second match of the day, the Golden Flyers struggled mightily with their hitting, going -.011 for the match with 19 kills on 95 attempts and 20 errors.
 
Grover had 15 assists and two blocks. Lyko led with four kills (.273) and freshman Jenna Mattison led the squad with 14 digs.
