ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women's volleyball squad was unable to hand East Avenue rival St. John Fisher its first conference loss on Wednesday night, falling 25-21, 25-14, 25-7.
Nazareth drops to 7-13 overall and 4-3 in conference play, while Fisher improves to 12-5 and 7-0, respectively. The Golden Flyers are currently in fourth place in the conference standings with games remaining against Elmira and Alfred.
Nazareth appeared to have things rolling in the first set, building a large lead at 16-9, including a service ace from
Zoe Tylipakis.
Trailing 19-16, the Cardinals rattled off eight-straight points to take a 21-19 lead that Nazareth was unable to overcome.
Nazareth struggled hitting the entire day, finishing -.012 with 20 kills on 86 attempts, with 21 errors.
Rylie Loomis added five kills and five digs on the night.
Tessa Grover hit .273 with five kills. She also added 12 assists and eight digs.
Tylipakis led Nazareth with 10 digs.
Nazareth will be taking part in the RIT Invitational this weekend, beginning with WPI on Friday at 7 p.m.
