ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- RIT had statistical advantages Tuesday in a non-conference women's soccer match against Nazareth, but the bottom line was that neither team could score as the teams settled for a 0-0 tie at the end of 110 minutes.
It marked Nazareth's third draw of the season and the second in which no goals were scored. The Golden Flyers have a record of 2-4-3 overall. RIT, which competes in the Liberty League, has a record of 4-2-2 overall. Nazareth also tied Brockport 1-1 back on Sept. 1 and played to a 0-0 tie at St. Lawrence on Sept. 11.
RIT had edges in shots (21-7) and corner kicks (9-4), but Nazareth's freshman goalkeeper
Annika Monfort equaled a career high by making nine saves to gain her fourth shutout of the season.
Only two of Nazareth's shots needed to be saved by RIT keeper Darcie Jones and both came off the foot of
Ashley Plane in the first 10 minutes of action. RIT had the best scoring chances in overtime with a pair of shots that Monfort was able to steer aside. The Tigers also had a flurry of four corner kicks in the second overtime, while Nazareth had two in the closing minutes.
Nazareth returns to Empire 8 Conference play Saturday with a game at Elmira that starts at 12 p.m.
