Field Hockey Falls in Season Opener against Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Amanda Chuttey recorded a career-high 22 saves as the Nazareth College Field Hockey team suffered a 7-1 setback to the University of Rochester Wednesday in the season opening game of the 2021 season on the Artificial Turf Field at Nazareth.

After Rochester (1-0) scored the first five goals on the game in the first 25 minutes of action, Nazareth (0-1) broke onto the scoreboard with its first goal of the season on the first shot of the game for the Golden Flyers.

Junior Caroline Desautels took a pass from fellow junior Bailey Selman and snapped a quick shot past the Rochester goalie to make it a 5-1 game just before halftime.

The Yellowjackets added to the lead in the second half with a goal in each of the final two quarters and limited Nazareth to just one shot on goal in the second half.

Chuttey recorded her 250th career save in the first half and then eclipsed her career-best effort with a save in the third quarter. Her previous best was an 18-save effort against last season against St. John Fisher. The senior finished with 22 saves including 15 in the first half.

The Golden Flyers will host Oberlin at 11 a.m. Saturday on the Artificial Turf Field.
