ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomores Kaleb Luton and Connor McCauslin each earned spots in the finals for the 110-meter hurdles event as each finished in less than 15 seconds to place fourth and sixth in the preliminaries Wednesday night in the first day of competition at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships at St. John Fisher College.
Luton crossed the finish line with a personal best of 14.90 and McCauslin was close behind with a 14.95. The duo will race in the finals scheduled for 2:10 p.m. Thursday.
In the final event of the evening, sophomore Nathan Bowers broke his personal best in the 10K race with a ninth place finish in 32:53.06. Freshman Ethan Glashauser was 15th and senior Michael Brown was 16th in the race.
For the Nazareth women, freshman Hannah Ragule set a personal best distance in the triple jump. Ragule took eighth with a leap of 10.99 meters (36' ¼"). In addition, the 4x400 relay with senior Abbey Szumloz, junior Brenna Johnson, junior Claire Bargabos and senior Elizabeth Decker placed seventh with a season-best time of 4:04.07.
Other top finishers Wednesday included the trio of Lilianna Hanning (13th place), sophomore Megan Morin (15th place) and sophomore Giselle Rainville (17th place) in the 10K, sophomore Alexis Anagnostopulos (15th place) in the 3k steeplechase and freshman Lea Richard (15th place) in the hammer throw.
Competition continues Thursday with the final day of events at the regional championships.
