ONEONTA, NY – After a strong defensive effort in the first half, the Nazareth College Field Hockey team surrendered a pair of second half goals and fell to Hartwick College Sunday afternoon at Wright Stadium.
Junior goalie Amanda Chuttey made seven saves in the first half and Hartwick (3-1 overall, 3-1 E8) held a 10-1 shots advantage but only led 1-0 after the first 30 minutes.
Nazareth (1-2 overall, 1-2 E8) came out strong in the third quarter and held a 3-0 edge in shots and had a pair of penalty corners but it was Hartwick that scored in the period with a tally 5:59 into the stanza to take a 2-0 lead in the contest.
The Hawks added a goal in the final quarter as well for the 3-0 victory.
Hartwick finished with a 17-6 edge in shots and an 11-4 lead in penalty corners.
Chuttey finished with seven saves and sophomore Jessica Holtz played the final 19 minutes and made three saves.
The Golden Flyers will wrap up the regular season schedule next Sunday at home against St. John Fisher with a 12 p.m. start.
