PITTSBURGH, PA – Chatham scored in each period Saturday as the Cougars posted a 4-0 victory over Nazareth College to complete the weekend series with a pair of victories over the Golden Flyers in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action.
The Cougars (3-4-0 overall, 3-2-0 UCHC) opened the scoring late in the first period with a goal in the final two minutes of the opening period. Nazareth (0-7-0, 0-7-0 UCHC) had a 14-11 shots advantage in the first 20 minutes.
Chatham added a pair of goals in the second period to extend the lead with both goals coming in the first five minutes of action and the second coming on the first power play opportunity of the game for the Cougars.
The Cougars closed out the scoring with a goal midway through the third period.
The Golden Flyers held shots advantages in the first two periods and had a slim 37-35 edge for the game.
Sophomore goalie Gage Roberts made his second start of the season and turned away 31 shots.
Nazareth returns to action Friday with the first of two games against Utica College. Friday's game will be at the Bill Gray's Iceplex at 7 p.m. and the same teams will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday in Utica.
