OSWEGO, NY – The Nazareth College Field Hockey team suffered a shutout loss for the fourth time in the last five games as the Golden Flyers dropped a 6-0 decision to SUNY Oswego Tuesday afternoon.
Oswego (7-6) used a goal off a penalty corner to take a 1-0 lead in the first quarter. The goal came with less than five minute to play in the opening period. The goal came on one of the five penalty corners in the quarter for the Lakers.
Nazareth (2-5) had two of its four shots in the opening period.
The Lakers added to their lead with a pair of goals in the second quarter in a span of 45 seconds. The first came on a crossing pass from the right side of the goal that was deflected past senior Amanda Chuttey. Less than a minute later Oswego pushed ahead 3-0 with a second goal on a penalty corner.
Oswego went ahead 4-0 just four minutes into the second half and added two additional goals in the final quarter for the non-conference victory.
Junior Bailey Selman had two of the shots for Nazareth and both were shots on goal.
Oswego held a 25-4 advantage on shots and an 18-3 edge in shots on goal. Chuttey finished with 12 saves for her seventh consecutive game with double-digit saves.
Nazareth returns to Empire 8 play Saturday and will host Houghton with a 12 p.m. start on the Artificial Turf Field.
