ROCHESTER, N.Y.-- Nazareth's men's and women's track and field teams were among the competitors Friday as the Golden Flyers hosted the All-Atlantic Regional Championships at the Golisano Training Center.
Shooting for a school record in the distance medley relay, Nazareth's men's team came up five seconds short with an 11th-place finish (10:37.38) with the foursome of
Josh Tomaka,
Matthew Johnson,
Jason Hall and
Nathan Bowers. The record of 10:32.80 was set in 2014.
Freshmen
Kaleb Luton and
Connor McCauslin competed in the 60-meter hurdles and finished 11th and 20th respectively with times of 8.61 and 8.75 respectively.
In the women's competition,
Gabrielle Pighetti finished 14th in the shot put with a heave of 11.47 meters (37 feet, 7 3/4 inches).
Competition resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. Competing for Nazareth are
Grace Blankenberg in the weight throw,
Brenna Johnson in the 400-meter dash,
Sarah Merriwether in the high jump and
Erin Reyner in the 3,000-meter run.
