Updated stats
PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Nazareth's women's basketball season came to an unceremonious conclusion Saturday as the Golden Flyers were outscored 43-27 in the second half at St. John Fisher in a 77-64 defeat to the Cardinals.

The loss eliminated the Golden Flyers from post-season consideration as Hartwick defeated Elmira, 61-54, to clinch the fourth and final playoff spot in next weekend's Empire 8 Conference Tournament. St. John Fisher finished the regular season at 19-6 overall and 12-2 in E8 games to gain the top seed and home-court advantage for the four-team tournament. Nazareth finished 16-9 overall and 8-6 in conference games to finish fifth in the standings.

Senior Rachel Benedict closed out her spectacular career with yet another double-double -- her 14th of the season -- as she totaled 22 points and 13 rebounds. She finished her career ranked third all-time in career scoring with 1,624 points and second in rebounding with 1,026.  Benedict scored 10 of her points in the first half, including a three-pointer with 2:42 left in the second quarter that secured a five-point lead for the Golden Flyers at 33-28. Nazareth wound up outscoring Fisher 19-10 in the second quarter to rally from a six-point first-quarter deficit to take a 37-34 lead at the half.

Nazareth was still ahead 50-49 with 3:27 left in the third quarter following a three-pointer by Jadyn Abrams, who finished with 11 points. Fisher then embarked on a 12-3 scoring spree to close out the quarter to take the lead for good at 61-53. The Cardinals continued to expand their lead in the fourth quarter as their advantage grew as large as 18 points late in the game.

Junior Miyah Sizer played well in reserve for the Golden Flyers as she scored a season-high 13 points to go with three steals. Sophomore Caley Cornwell added seven points. Fisher's Ella Eckert also posted a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. The Cardinals out-rebounded the Golden Flyers 48-30 overall, including 26-13 in the second half.
