ITHACA, NY – Junior Kelly Artini raced to a second place finish in the 1000 meter race in a time of 3:19.77 and led the Nazareth College men's and women's track and field teams to seven top-10 individual finishes and 17 top-20 place finishes at the Bomber Invitational hosted by Ithaca College.
The Nazareth women had several strong finishes in the running events as sophomore Brenna Johnson was 12th in the 60-meter dash (8.24), fellow sophomore Erin Reyner was eighth (5:34.66) and freshman was 11th (5:36.55) in the mile, junior Elizabeth Decker was 20th (1:05.81) in the 400, freshman Hannah Kuc was 8th (1:31.65) in the 500, sophomore Claire Bargabos was 10th (2:28.34) in the 800 and Johnson also finished 9th (27.19) in the 200 for the Golden Flyers.
In addition, sophomore Grace Blankenberg took 10th (10.60 meters) and classmate Ally Criswell was 14th (10.03) in the shot put. Criswell added an 18th place (11.82) finish in the weight throw and freshman Sarah Merriwether was tied for 13th in the high jump as she cleared 1.46 meters (4' 9 ½").
The Nazareth men were led by junior Jason Hall who captured 7th place in the 800 with a time of 1:58.87. Sophomore Matthew Johnson was 15th in the 400 (52.96) and also took 14th in the triple jump (12.49 meters – 40' 11 ¾") while freshman Arthur DeVasto was 11th in the high jump (1.79 meters – 5' 10 ½") and sophomore Josh Tomaka was 15th in the 3K race with a time of 9:13.27.
