ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Alexandra Livesey assisted on all three goals by the Nazareth College field hockey team as the Golden Flyers built a 3-1 lead in the first half but Brockport came back with a pair of fourth quarter goals to tie the game and won it in overtime, 4-3, less than three minutes into the extra session Wednesday night on the artificial turf field at Nazareth. It was the first home loss to Brockport since 2013.
Livesey assisted on a goal by junior Natalie L'Hommedieu four minutes into the contest to give Nazareth (2-2) the early lead.
The Golden Flyers extended the lead 4:30 later as Livesey set up junior Lydia Dewart for the 2-0 lead.
Brockport (4-0) answered early in the second quarter as Bailey Lazore scored the first of two goals on the night to cut the Nazareth lead in half.
Just before halftime, junior Emilee Rosenberg scored on a pass from Livesey to regain the two-goal lead for the Golden Flyers.
After a scoreless third quarter, Brockport trimmed the lead to 3-2 as Lazore scored 3:38 into the final period.
As time was running down in the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles were awarded a penalty corner with 25 seconds left and converted on the chance to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Early in the extra session, Nazareth had a pair of scoring chances with shots in close to the cage but Brockport recovered and moved the ball up the field and scored the game winner with 7:01 left in the 10-minute overtime period.
The Golden Flyers return to action Saturday and will face Rensselaer at 11:30 am in a non-conference game on the artificial turf field.
