RYE, NY – Jessica Kollberg and Emily Kromer scored third period goals to lead the Nazareth College women's hockey team to a 3-1 road victory over Manhattanville College Friday night in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game in the Playland Ice Casino.
Neither team managed a goal in the opening 20 minutes of action despite a 13-7 shots advantage for Nazareth (18-3-1 overall, 12-3-0 UCHC).
Midway through the second period Hannah Tulchinsky opened the scoring for the Golden Flyers with her fourth goal of the year. Nikolle Van Stralen and Maria Di Cresce added assists on the scoring play.
Manhattanville (13-7-2, 9-5-1) knotted the game with a power play goal early in the third period scoring midway through the man advantage.
Just over two minutes later, Kollberg scored with a helper from defensive partner Gabriella DeMeo to regain the one-goal lead for the Golden Flyers.
Kromer scored her 12th of the season at the 13:49 mark of the final period for the insurance goal and Hailey Redders notched her team-leading 20th assist of the year on the play.
Adrianna Brehm made 30 saves including 16 in the second period as she improved to 15-2-1 on the year.
The win coupled with a Utica loss to Elmira moved the Golden Flyers into third place in the conference standings just a single point behind William Smith. Nazareth and William Smith will finish the regular season next weekend with a home and home series at Nazareth Saturday and in Geneva Sunday.
The same two teams will finish the weekend series Saturday with a 4 p.m. game.
