HOBOKEN, NJ – The Nazareth College women's basketball team struggled on the offensive end of the court connecting on just 25.5 percent (13-of-51) of its shots in the game and dropped a 68-44 decision to Stevens Institute Saturday in an Empire 8 Conference game in Canavan Arena.
Nazareth (13-7 overall, 8-3 E8) trailed by just a point at 13-12 after the first quarter but Stevens (14-7, 9-3 E8) rallied in the second quarter winning the period 25-10 and taking a 38-22 lead into the halftime intermission.
The Ducks added to the lead in the third period with a 17-11 advantage in the quarter and cruised to the victory.
Rachel Benedict led the Golden Flyers with 10 points and nine rebounds. No other player was able to score more than five points. Isabella Gjonaj and Erica Bradley each scored five for Nazareth.
Stevens was 11-for-17 (65%) from the field in the second quarter and finished the game hitting 43% of its field goals.
The Golden Flyers will look to rebound from the loss with a home game at 5:30 p.m. Friday against St. John Fisher.
