HAMILTON, N.Y. -- With two rounds in the books, Nazareth's men's golf team is in sixth place in the six-team Empire 8 Conference Tournament at Colgate University's Seven Oaks Golf Club.
The eventual conference champion will not be determined until the spring, but Utica will take a seven-stroke lead into the final two rounds after compiling a two-day score of 625. St. John Fisher, the nine-time defending champion, is in second place with a score of 632. Oswego (642) in next, followed by Sage (670), Elmira (687) and Nazareth (806). Rounds three and four will be played April 18-19, 2020 at Hershey Country Club.
Nazareth sophomore
Jake Costa followed up his first-round score of 74 with a round of 81 Sunday for a two-day total of 155. He is in a tie for third place individually. He trails St. John Fisher's Colin McGaugh by five shots and Oswego's Erik Schleicher by four.
Other competitors for the Golden Flyers were freshman
Vincent Leblond, in 20th place after rounds of 91 and 79 for a 170 total; junior
Stephen Gabel, with rounds of 108 and 107 for a 215 total; and freshman
Seth Terzo, with back to back rounds of 133 for a 266 total.
