POTSDAM, NY – The Nazareth College men's rugby team capped the end of its first season of 15's play with a loss to Clarkson University Saturday in the first round of the Upstate Small College Rugby Conference playoffs. The Golden Flyers fell 73-7 to the Golden Knights.
The game was close in the early action with back-and-forth action leading to a 14-7 Clarkson edge.
Nazareth scored its points when sophomore Nikolas Lamphere off a pick and go from a ruck.
The Knights forged ahead with 10 more points before the end of the first half to take a 24-7 edge into the intermission.
In the second half, Clarkson opened up the scoring and muscled its way to the 73-7 win to advance in the conference playoffs.
