ROCHESTER, NY – Seniors Danielle Synowski, Melissa Newcomb and Delaney Martin combined for 31 kills for the Nazareth College women's volleyball team but the University of Rochester used a balanced attack to take a 3-1 decision Wednesday night in a non-conference battle in Kidera Gymnasium.

The Yellowjackets (9-18) won the opening set 25-13 but Nazareth (10-14) rebounded to post a 25-16 win in the second set to even the match. Rochester won the third set 25-19 and then closed out the match with a 25-17 win in the fourth.

Synowski led the offense with 12 kills while Martin accounted for 10 and Newcomb chipped in 9 while the rest of the team totaled just six. Junior Jessica Barry handed out 26 assists and sophomore McKenzie Hart led the defense with 23 digs. Sophomore Olivia Quick had 15 digs and Synowski had 11 for the Golden Flyers. Synowski also served four of the six aces for Nazareth.

The loss is the fifth straight to the Yellowjackets and fifth straight this season overall for Nazareth.

The Golden Flyers continue home action Friday and Saturday with Empire 8 matches against Hartwick at 6 p.m. Friday and Elmira at 6 p.m. Saturday in Kidera Gymnasium. The seniors for Nazareth will be honored prior to the start Friday's home match against the Hawks.
