BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth claimed a non-conference women's volleyball victory Wednesday as the Golden Flyers defeated Buffalo State in four sets by scores of 18-25. 25-20, 25-15, 25-21.
Nazareth improved 10-4 overall while the Bengals dropped to 4-12.
The Golden Flyers posted a .267 team hitting percentage (51-15-135) with sophomore
Delaney Martin hammering out a career-high 15 kills on 39 swings for a .308 hitting percentage.
Madison Joseph added nine kills and nine digs and freshman setter
Jessica Barry totaled 38 assists, 10 digs and six kills. Freshman
Savannah Bothner had 25 digs and six assists.
After dropping the first set, Nazareth pulled even thanks to three kills each from Joseph, Martin and
Carmen Sapp. Martin added seven more kills in third set as the Golden Flyers gained control. Bothner had eight digs in the fourth set and
Celia Cordero had six as Nazareth seized the victory.
Nazareth returns to action Friday at the Vassar Invitational. The Golden Flyers play Geneseo Friday at 7 p.m. and Vassar and Western Connecticut State on Saturday.
