Box l Updated Stats
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior C.J. Murray netted a pair of goals and the Nazareth hockey squad earned its first home victory of the season, 3-1, over Oswego state Saturday night.   Murray now has four goals on the season.

The Golden Flyers improve to 4-6-4 overall , while Oswego falls to 7-6-2.

Nazareth converted its first power play of the day past the midway point of the first period.  Murray ripped a shot from the point, which went five-hole past the Oswego netminder.  Oliver Janzen and Austin Romzek notched assists on the goal.

The Golden Flyers doubled up Oswego early in the second period on a goal from Packy Jones, marking his third straight game registering at least one point.  Scott Dawson set up the goal with a well-crafted wrap-around pass to Jones in front of the net for a tap-in.  John Power, the reigning ECAC West Player of the Week, also picked up his sixth assist of the season.

Facing heavy pressure from the Lakers, goaltender Ed Zdolshek helped keep the Lakers off the scoreboard.  That allowed Murray to score his second goal of the game, with Pizzey offering an excellent feed at 15:14.

The Oswego pressure continued and the Lakers eventually broke through just two minutes later.  Nazareth took a 3-1 lead into the final period.

The last period was flooded with penalties from each squad, four to Nazareth and three to Oswego.   Zdolshek made 13 of his 30 saves in the night in the third period to help preserve the win.

Oswego outshot Nazareth 31-20 in the game.

The Golden Flyers play another home contest next Friday, when it will host Franklin Pierce at 7 p.m.
