Box | Updated stats
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Manhattanville rallied from a two-goal second-period deficit Saturday with four goals in the second and third periods to defeat Nazareth in an ECAC West men's hockey game, 5-4, at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex.

The victory enabled the Valiants to salvage a split in a pair of weekend conference games as they improved to 10-8-1 overall and 6-3 in the ECAC West. Nazareth dropped to 6-10-4 overall and 3-6-1 in conference play.

Freshman Austin Romzek had a goal and an assist for the Golden Flyers, who also got goals from senior Scott Andler, junior Dominik Gabaj and freshman J.R. Wojciechowski. Stephen Gaul scored two goals for Manhattanville.

Manhattanville got a first-period goal from Jeff Beck, but Nazareth rallied for a pair of late goals from Andler and Romzek to take a 2-1 lead. Andler's goal was a short-handed tally and came off an assist from Rocky Gruttadauria. Romzek's goal came with :43 left in the first period after he stole a pass to gain a breakaway and buried a shot past Valiants goaltender Tyler Feaver.

Romzek then assisted on Gabaj's power-play goal early in the second period that gave Nazareth a 3-1 advantage. Manhattanville dominated the remainder of the period as Gaul scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season and Matt Coleman scored his fourth goal of the season to give the Valiants a 4-3 lead heading into the second period.

The third period was scoreless until less than seven minutes remained and Manhattanville's Anthony Ragone scored to make it 5-3. Nazareth answered less than a minute later as Wojciechowski scored his third goal in the last two days with an assist from sophomore John Power.

Nazareth pulled goalie Brandon Lane in favor of a sixth attacker in the final minute, but the Golden Flyers were unable to gain the equalizing goal. Lane, making just his second start of the season, made 22 saves. Feaver had 24 saves for Manhattanville. Nazareth finished with a 28-27 edge in shots.

Nazareth is back in action next weekend for a pair of road games at Elmira.
