Chris Mahan. Scores were 29-27, 25-19, 19-25, 25-19. Nazareth, ranked eighth nationally, improved to 18-3 overall. Keuka is 10-4. It was the first-ever meeting between the two teams in men's volleyball.
Hieb had seven kills in seven attempts while Levermore and Mahan each had 11 attempts with two hitting errors for a .455 hitting percentage. Freshman setter
Jake Kemp also had 29 assists, four digs and two kills.
After a close two-point win in the first set, Nazareth hit .600 (10-1-15) in the second set to take a commanding two-set lead. Keuka took the third set as Nazareth had nine hitting errors, but the Golden Flyers came back to win the fourth set with a .375 hitting percentage (10-4-16).
Levermore also had three blocks and senior
Nick McDonagh and junior
John McCarty had five digs each.
Nazareth travels to Vassar this weekend for a pair of United Volleyball Conference matches. The Golden Flyers play Vassar Saturday at 11 a.m. and New Paltz at 1:30 p.m.
