Mitch Ford scored 28 of his game-high 37 points in the second half to propel Nazareth to a, 72-68, road victory over Keystone College Saturday afternoon. Ford, who was 15-for-20 from the field, also pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds
.
With the win, Nazareth snaps a five-game losing streak to improve to 4-5 overall, while Keystone falls to 0-7.
Nazareth broke a tie at 48-48 with a Ford layup at the 12:18 mark and the Golden Flyers led the rest of the contest.
Another layup from Ford with just over five minutes to play gave Nazareth its largest lead of the game at 63-52.
The Giants were able to slash the deficit to as little as three points at, 71-68, with :04 second remaining, but
Brendan Wind made one-of-two free throws to seal the win.
Nazareth showed some rust early on, falling behind 13-0, before a
Maurice Mills layup nearly five minutes into the game got the Golden Flyers offense started.
The visitors kept chipping away at the Giants lead.
Nick Nadeau connected on two 3-pointers nearing the five minute mark to draw Nazareth within 29-25.
Nazareth held Keystone to just five points over the final seven minutes to cut the deficit to 34-32 at the break.
Mills, playing in his first contest since November 14 after suffering an injury, notched nine points (4-for-8) and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Tyler Stenglein finished with eight points, while Wind dished out seven assists.
The Golden Flyers return to action on January 5 when they will travel to Ithaca College to open up Empire 8 play.
