Box | Updated stats
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior Dominik Gabaj scored the tying goal for host Nazareth early in the third period Saturday and senior goalie Ed Zdolshek made a season-high 40 saves as the Golden Flyers battled to a 4-4 tie with third-ranked and unbeaten Babson.

Nazareth, which hosts Amherst Sunday at 3 p.m., had its record move to 2-3-3 overall. Babson, ranked third by d3hockey.com, is 7-0-1 overall.

Gabaj's goal was his team-leading fourth of the season and came off a rebound of a shot by Oliver Janzen. That tied the score at 1:59 of the period. Nazareth outshot the Beavers 15-10 in the third period, but Babson recorded the only three shots of the five-minute overtime period.

The game was tied 2-2 after the first period. Sophomore John Power and senior Scott Andler scored for Nazareth just 20 seconds apart to give Nazareth a brief 2-1 lead. Babason's Rob Devaney tied the score at 2-2 just 47 seconds after Andler's goal.

Nazareth had a power play opportunity in the second period after Jack Donohue was whistled for holding. The Beavers, however, scored a short-handed goal as Devaney was credited with his second goal of the game. Just 41 seconds after that, Nazareth capitalized as freshman David Powlowski converted for his third goal of the season off power play assists from freshman J.R. Wojciechowski and senior Sean de Herder.

A penalty to Nazareth's Ryan Walter set up Babson's fourth goal late in the second period. Charlie Ackerman scored for Babson at 17:17 of the period with assists from Donohue and Michael Phillips.

Babson carried that one-goal advantage into the third period, then Gabaj scored for Nazareth.

Zdolshek was sharp in goal for the Golden Flyers as he made 40 saves, including 13 in the third period and overtime to keep the game tied. Babson's Jamie Murray made 29 saves, including 14 in the third period.

Nazareth was whistled for 14 minutes on seven minor penalties. The Golden Flyers had to kill a minor penalty in overtime when Walter was called for tripping.
