ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nazareth used a 13-3 second-half scoring run to lead the Golden Flyers to a 62-55 victory over visiting Alfred in a women's Empire 8 basketball game on Tuesday evening. Sophomore
Julia Brew broke the single-season three-point record with four baskets from outside the arc, which gives her 71 on the season. The previous record was 69 three-pointers held by Katie Kollar.
With the victory, the Golden Flyers improve to 9-15 overall and 3-10 in Empire 8 contests. Following the loss, the Saxons drop to 6-18 overall and 1-12 in conference games.
The Golden Flyers' decisive scoring run answered the Saxons' largest lead of the second half, 43-38. A layup by
Lindsey Kelly started the run, which was followed by a pair of three-pointers by Brew, which gave Nazareth a 49-46 lead with 9:28. The Golden Flyers' completed their 8-0 scoring run in just 59 seconds. Following a three-pointer by Alfred's Harley Cleary, sophomore

Maria Allocco scored on consecutive possessions to provide Nazareth a 54-49 lead with 6:42 left in regulation.
Nazareth secured the victory in the final minute with a layup by Kelly and two free throws by Peck. During the second half, the Golden Flyers shot a torrid 13-24 (54 percent) from the field, including 5-10 (50 percent) from outside the arc.
The Saxons scored the first three baskets of the second half to take a 29-27 lead 2:16 into the stanza. Following Alfred's run, the score stayed within one possession until the Saxons stretched their lead to 43-38 with about 12 minutes remaining in regulation.
In the first half, Nazareth used a 10-0 scoring run to take a 17-10 lead with 8:09 to play in the first half. Senior
Megan Morrison ignited the run with a layup after collecting an offensive rebound under the Alfred basket. Kelly followed with a layup, which was followed by a three-point basket by classmate
Veronica Peck. Junior
Melissa Reeves and Kelly combined for three free throws in a span of 24 seconds to cap the run.
During the Golden Flyers' offensive run, Nazareth's defense held Alfred scoreless for roughly three minutes, and the Saxons scored only one field goal in over 7:30.
Senior
Anna Wicks connected on two-point jumper to give the Golden Flyers a 27-21 lead with 1:11 remaining in the stanza, but Amanda Off answered with a jumper to cut Nazareth's lead to four points at the break.
Kelly finished with 23 points to lead all players in scoring. Brew and Peck tallied 12 points and 10 points, respectively for Nazareth's offense. Nine players scored for the Golden Flyers' balanced attack. Nazareth also had a 35-30 advantage in total rebounds thanks to a game-high 11 boards by Kelly.
Emilea Harrison had a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds for Alfred, and Cleary added 12 points.
The Golden Flyers close the regular season with a conference game at Utica at 8 p.m. on Friday evening.
