ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth outscored visiting Brockport 4-1 in the third period to overcome a 4-2 deficit and defeat the Golden Eagles 6-4 in a non-conference hockey game on Tuesday evening. Junior Tom Seravalli had a goal and three assists to lead the Golden Flyers.

With the victory, Nazareth evens its record at 1-1. With the loss, Brockport falls to 0-2 overall.

Seravalli opened the scoring 9:40 into the first period as he scored close to the Brockport goal after receiving a pass from sophomore Packy Jones. Senior Mark Zavorin was also credited with an assist on the goal.

Brockport's Nick Marinac tallied a natural hat trick with three second period goals. Marinac's first goal was from the point after a defensive miscue by the Golden Flyers' goal line. Jake Taylor passed the puck from in front of the goal back to Marinac. Marinac's second two goals were both on the power play. Chris Luker and James Ryan had assists on the first power play goal, which came two and a half minutes after Marinac's first goal. Midway through the period, Marinac had another power play goal with 9:57 to play in the second.

The Golden Flyers answered 23 seconds before the end of the second as senior Jordan Ciccarello found the top-left corner after picking up the puck that was dropped by Servalli. Seravalli kept the play alive despite receiving an elbow from Brockport defender Robbie Hall.

Less than four minutes into the third period, Chris Luker scored the Golden Eagles' third power play goal of the game. Ryan and Taylor recorded assists on the score. After allowing three power play goals, Nazareth's short-handed lines held Brockport without a power play goal on its final three attempts.

Zavorin scored the Golden Flyers' first power play goal of the season 58 seconds later to cut Nazareth's deficit to 4-3. It was the first of four unanswered goals for Nazareth. Seravalli and Ciccarello were credited with assists as they set up Zavorin's opportunity. Just over four minutes later, Jones scored the game-tying goal after receiving a pass from sophomore James Redman.

Freshman Justin LaCorte scored the game-winning goal short-handed to provide Nazareth with the 5-4 edge. Following the faceoff, sophomore Scott Dawson pushed the puck up the boards out of the Golden Flyers' zone. Seravalli collected the puck and found LaCorte. It was the first short-handed goal in Nazareth's short hockey history.

The Golden Flyers added an empty net insurance goal with 27 seconds to play in regulation. Freshman Ben Blasko passed the puck from the boards to junior Julius Tamasy, who slid it into the open goal. Freshman David Seward had an assist on the play as he knocked the puck up to Blasko.

Nazareth finished with an advantage in shots (30-25). Sophomore Joe Gladnick made 21 saves to earn the victory. Jared Lockhurst recorded 24 saves in the loss.

The Golden Flyers are in action again on Friday when Nazareth hosts ninth-ranked Hobart at 7 p.m.
