ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth scored five second-period goals Friday to rally for a 6-4 men's hockey victory over 11th-ranked Manhattanville in an ECAC West game played at the Sports Centre at MCC.

The upset win was the Golden Flyers' first conference win as they improved to 1-7 in the ECAC West and 6-11-1 overall. Manhattanville, ranked 11th in the latest USCHO poll, dropped to 11-6-1 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play. Nazareth is home again Saturday at 7 p.m. for another ECAC West game against 15th-ranked Neumann.

After falling behind 1-0 after the first period, Nazareth used its five-goal second-period flurry to take command. Freshman Packy Jones started the run with his eighth goal of the season to tie the score at 1-1 at 2:38 of the second. Jones and junior Zach Lewis had assists on the Golden Flyers' go-ahead goal, a power play score by sophomore Tom Seravalli at 5:17.

Goals by Scott Dawson, Julius Tamasy and Jordan Ciccarello followed to fuel the Golden Flyers' upset. The goals by Tamasy and Ciccarello came just 20 seconds apart and put Nazareth up 5-1.

After Manahttanville scored late in the second period to close within 5-2, Tamasy scored his second goal of the game just 53 seconds into the third period off assists from Lewis and Ben Waldman.

The Valiants made a run late in the game as Scott Hudson and Joel Rosenberg scored just 14 seconds apart, but freshman goalie Joe Gladnick helped seal his second win of the season with 33 saves.

Tamasy had two goals and one assist and Lewis recorded three assists. Seravalli, who was on the Manhattanville roster last season, finished with one goal and one assist as did Jones. Waldman and junior Mark Zavorin each had two assists.

The victory ends the season series with the Valiants, who defeated the Golden Flyers in back-to-back games in November. Manhattanville had a 37-26 edge in shots. Brian Fleming started in goal for the Valiants, but was pulled after making 13 saves and allowing four goals. His replacement, Alex Scola, allowed the last two goals and made seven saves.
